N-Viro International is an interesting company that not many people actually know about. N-Viro turns waste products into renewable energy, a clean coal to be used. The company has created a patented system that takes bio solids and other types of organic waste and in a safe and efficient manner, turns them into a reusable product. N-Viro mixes the bio solids with certain alkaline waste that has been created from coal combustion through electric generation, cement and lime. By using this process, the organic waste is stabilized through additional pasteurization and is completely disinfected as well. This process creates a renewable energy from waste, as well as being able to turn it into a fertilizer too.
Currently, N-Viro is contracted with a soil processing facility in Toledo, however they are licensed throughout the entire United States and internationally. They are also working with the Volusia County in Daytona, Florida. At this facility they process bio solids that have been received from multiple areas in Florida.
Testing has been done at a plant at the Michigan State University, which is a coal fired power plant. A combination of bio solids and manure were combined with coal from Ohio and burned in their boiler. The results were that the blended fuels performed better, air emissions were below limits and the boiler still performed as normal. Due to these results, N-Viro will be developed to be used in this facility, as well as other facilities within the US.This company has made a great advancement in the way of alternative energy, as well as using waste to energy advancements. Being able to take sewer waste and use it for energy, cleans the environment, while at the same time creating a source of energy, in an ever diminishing environment of renewable resources.
